Part of special reunion
Listening to Canadian rockers Triumph in the late 1970s and 80s was probably second only to Rush.
And the band has had a sudden resurgence with the use of a short promo spot for the 2024-25 NHL season by host broadcaster Sportsnet. The spot features the band's massive 1979 hit "Lay It On The Line."
That ultimately led to a live reunion for the band in Edmonton for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Panthers. It was the first time the band had come together since 2008.
And playing bass in place of original member Mike Levine was Todd Kerns, a top musician with Okanagan ties. He has lots of family here.
Ryan from 104.7 The LIZARD and OV1039 caught up with Kerns in his home studio in Las Vegas and asked how a Saskatchewan boy got to wear the Oilers jersey for such a high profile gig and how the reunion all came together.
